We take you to a historic area, marked by a painful past, yet reinvented through local life and culture ; That’s what we love about it ! Heading to the former submarine base !
10 p.m. Discover the Bassin des Lumières
Here is the place that is revolutionizing art exhibitions : monumental projections in an authentically industrial setting, where images are reflected in the omnipresent water, enhanced by a captivating soundtrack. After the Dutch painters, now it’s ancient Egypt ! It’s a feast for the eyes. A must see !

11 p.m. Moon Harbour Distillery
We suggest you stop by the Moon Harbour Distillery. We recommend this hidden gem and its tasting experience. You will surely enjoy that visit if you re drawn to stories of passion, friendship and entrepreneurship.
It is all about an audacious concept : producing a 100% local whisky, from raw materials to the bottling … in a World War II blockhouse !

1 p.m. Lunch at the Bar de la Marine
We love this emblematic restaurant that feels like a tiny neighborhood bistro, right in the heart of Bacalan’s working district. you will enjoy heartwarmful and delicious cuisine, under the guidance of Frédéric Coiffé, an award-winning Chief. At the end of the corridor, a charming backyard garden transforms into a summer place to be with a guinguette-style vibe.
You can really hace a great time here, in a place full of character, where pleasure and conviviality rule.
2 p.m. Cité mondiale du Vin
Obviously ! Please forgive us for mentioning it but how could we pass by without visiting “one of the best museums in the world” according to National Geographic ? There are many reasons to step inside : the impressive and unique architecture, an interactive exhibition on the world and history of wine, a tasting experience and finally, a stunning 360° view of the city.

4 p.m. Take a walk through the Chartrons district
Welcome to our Marais, made in Bordeaux, a neighborhood that is both bourgeois and bohemian. The visit can begin on Rue Notre Dame with wine shops, restaurants and trendy shops; Next, you can visit the Saint Louis church and browse the antique shops windows. The 19th-century octogonal hall. On the food side, our favorite spots : The Cambridge pub for its fish and ships or Cabane 101 for its oysters and sea food.

5 p.m. A zen break at the Jardin public
It’s a bit like our own Hyde Park, a perfect spot in summer to cool off, take a nap, play or sunbathe on the grass.
Every Bordeaux local has fond memories attached to this remarkable garden, spanning over 10 hectares in the heart of the city. a perfect family activity ! I used to take my children there to bicycle, carousel and watch Guignol Guérin, the oldest marionette show in France.
And why not add a dose of science and discovery at the Natural History Museum ?
6 p.m. Make a stop at the Contemporary art Center (our local MOMA!)
Another gem in the Chartrons ! This art center is housed in a former 19th-century colonial warehouse, now classified as a national historic monument. Throughout the year, temporary exhibitions and performances by national and international artists are featured.
8 p.m. Dinner at a brasserie
We love the chic and casual atmosphere of this typical brasserie. Mirrors on walls, red sofas, white tablecloths and black-tied waiters. This place is made out of tradition and offers dishes like vinaigrette leeks, escargot, Cote de boeuf or Saint Jacques. We have come here for more than 20 years just for their beef tartare, every time !

But now it’s time to head back to Numa House, your holiday villa in Bordeaux. How about a chill day tomorrow on the terrace by the lap pool ?
